Kyle Kingson (Alex Pettyfer) is an ass. A rich, smart, good looking ass. In Beastly, he’s the epitome of popular high school douche bag and makes a game out of humiliating unattractive classmates. He totally gets what he deserves when Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen), the goth chick he invited to a school dance and bailed on, puts a curse on him, severely bashing him with the ugly stick. The only way to break the curse is for someone to fall in love with him as he is. Ha, take that.
His father banishes him to Brooklyn, (omg, what a terrible fate) with a housekeeper (Lisa Gay Hamilton) and blind tutor (Neil Patrick Harris). Kyle stumbles upon a dopefiend killing a bad-ass hustler, then promises the addict safety for his daughter (who just happens to be adorable Vanessa Hudgens) if she agrees to kick it with him in his Brooklyn pad.
I think I’ll leave this one to the young ones. I’m all about the Disney Beauty and the Beast cartoon and the featurette for Beastly didn’t really grab me, but if you’re so inclined, I’ve added it below.
