A pessimistic view of the future of humanity. Don’t know about you, but I feel very uncomfortable when watching movies like this. Take Gattaca for example, it really makes you think. How far away are we as a society from genetically enhancing the unborn and creating a world where people choose life partners based on each others genetic material? No, seriously think about it! Science has the potential to alter the future in unimaginable ways. Repo Men is a story about how science has allowed humans to extend and improve their lives through manufactured, mechanical organs. The catch? If you don’t make your payments, you die. The repo men from The Union track you down and say, ‘I’ll take that thank you very much’ … and then you die.

Remy (Jude Law) is a highly skilled repo man, until he suffers cardiac arrest and wakes up with a new heart and a huge debt. He can’t make the payments and you guessed it, the hunter becomes the hunted. He loses his right to life, though gains a romantic interest it seems (Alice Braga). Both now on the run, they join thousands of others in the fight against The Union.

I find it hard to believe we’re supposed to feel bad for the guy after his long career as a mass murderer … oh wait, I do love Dexter. I do, however, feel like I’ve watched the entire movie within it’s trailer. Repo Men is in theaters March 19th, 2010. Trailer and clips for you below.

The Irishman Synopsis

Before RocknRolla (Filmstalker review) I didn’t have a lot of time for Guy Ritchie, of course I loved his two London gangster type films, but I was getting a little bored of them, and even though that film did a great job I was expecting more of the same from him. Then came Sherlock Holmes and surprised the hell out of a lot of us. Now he’s set to make a film about the King Arthur legend, something we heard the other day, but now it’s confirmed we find out more about the intended story and it sounds even further…Visit Filmstalker for the full story. I saw Vincenzo Natali’s film Splice and while the first half had me really interested, the second half became a joke with the audience laughing out loud at some hilariously bad dialogue and some really daft plot moments. Honestly, it had me shaking my head in disbelief at times. So its great news to hear that Natali is going back to the editing room before the film is released. The only problem is that the changes are apparently cosmetic and won’t really be changing the film that much, so we’re told….Visit Filmstalker for the full story.
